Program & Peer Support Coordinator

Position Objective:

As a Program & Peer Support Coordinator with The WAR Foundation, you will provide trauma-informed, peer-driven recovery support services while supporting program operations and transportation needs. This role combines certified peer recovery specialist (PRS/CPRS/RCPRS) responsibilities with program coordination and limited transportation support duties. You will serve as a vital bridge between clients and the recovery team, modeling hope and delivering personalized support from a lived experience perspective.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Peer Support Services (PRS/CPRS/RCPRS-Aligned)

  • Provide one-on-one peer support to clients using motivational interviewing and active listening techniques.
  • Facilitate structured peer-led support groups and one on one sessions focused on wellness, recovery planning, life skills, and mutual aid.
  • Help clients establish and maintain individualized recovery goals and Recovery Engagement Plans.
  • Advocate for client needs and connect them with internal/external resources such as housing, employment, and mental health services.
  • Maintain healthy boundaries and share lived experience in ways that support empowerment and recovery.
  • Uphold PRS/CPRS/RCPRS principles including self-determination, person-centered care, and respect.

Program Coordination

  • Oversee daily programming for participants, ensuring safety, engagement, and alignment with recovery goals.
  • Monitor and report on client progress to the Operations Manager.
  • Conduct or assist with intakes, exit interviews, and progress evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Peer Leaders and clinical staff to adjust programming based on client needs.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records and documentation.
  • Coordinate referrals based on individualized client needs.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as a liaison between clients, peer leaders, and the broader treatment team.
  • Clearly communicate issues, updates, and needs to the Operations Manager.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to organizational planning and quality improvement.

Transportation Oversight

  • Safely transport WAR Foundation clients to and from approved locations as needed.
  • Promote respectful and safe conduct during transport.
  • Conduct vehicle checks and ensure safety compliance.
  • Report vehicle or client-related transport issues promptly through proper channels.

Training, Ethics, and Professional Development

  • Participate in required training on trauma-informed care, peer ethics, harm reduction, and recovery practices.
  • Maintain active PRS/CPRS/RCPRS certification.
  • Follow ethical standards, HIPAA, and The WAR Foundation’s code of conduct to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
