Mission

Our mission is to reduce the impact of substance use and psychiatric disorders, as well as complex medical and psychosocial conditions for individuals, families and communities in Virginia. WAR Foundation, LLC utilizes a “Recovery Oriented Systems of Care” approach to provide a high level of ASAM multidimensional assessment, treatment, and care coordination for each patient in our services.

Overview

ASAM is the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the ASAM Criteria is the most widely used and comprehensive set of guidelines for the placement, stay, transfer and discharge of patients with addiction and co-occurring conditions.

WAR Foundation offers ASAML2.5 Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). ASAML2.5 Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is the next higher level of care for individuals who are not making optimal recovery progress in ASAML2.1 IOP or other lower levels of care.

Groups are held 5 days a week, 5 hours per day, for a total of 20 hours per week.

PHP is a good fit for people who

  • Need a high level of care but can remain clean outside of a rehab center.
  • Have already completed a hospital or residential program but feel at imminent risk of relapse.
  • Have a hard time motivating themselves to continue treatment.
  • Have a co-occurring disorder (e.g., anxiety or depression in addition to a substance use disorder).
  • Live in environments where they are at risk for using drugs and have little support.
  • Are not making optimal recovery progress in an IOP.

ASAM 2.1 INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM

ASAM Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP) are a structured program of skilled treatment services for adults. IOP service delivery requires a minimum of 3 service hours per service day to achieve 9 to 19 hours of services per week for adults.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Service Goals:

  • Increased personal insight to co-occurring symptoms, addictive thought and behavioral patterns;
  • Increased knowledge of the bio-psycho-social-spiritual addiction disease model;
  • Self-awareness to patterns of emotional, mental, physical signs and stages of the relapse process;
  • Enhanced motivation and commitment to pursuit of life-long recovery;
  • Ability to maintain extended periods of abstinence;
  • Improved co-occurring coping and relapse prevention skills to include a written relapse plan;
  • Improved interpersonal relationships through positive and assertive communication skills;
  • Development of a community support system conducive to long-term recovery; and
  • Strong community reintegration plan with stable employment, and/or vocational rehabilitation support.
